I'm looking to share a room. I'm 23, a California State University Chico Student, and a NAI National Scholarship recipient.
I'm flexible but hoping to arrive the 11th and depart the 16th.
I am looking for a roomate for the Portland NAI Workshop. I have a reservation from Nov.11th to the 15th. at the Red Lion Hotel at the convention Center. I am in my later 5o's and am an interpreter at Eldorado Canyon State Park in Colorado. I hope to extend my visit for a trip along the coast to visit the coastal state parks. Perhaps that would be of interest also??

The City of Portland Fire Department has a few rules concerning the Oregon Convention Center that presenters and attendees should be aware of. These rules are a little different than at previous workshops, and NAI would like to make sure everyone attending or presenting has seen them.

Set up of presentation rooms are required to stay as is. Each room is configured to meet the requirements of the City of Portland’s fire code, and no one is allowed to move any tables, chairs, or any other furniture around in the meeting rooms.

Presenters must agree not to rearrange the room. If the OCC staff inspects the room and finds the chairs in another configuration, the program will be stopped, the room cleared, and the chairs reset to the original configuration. The OCC will also fine the presenter $100.

Presenters are responsible for the subsequent fines. NAI will not reimburse or otherwise be responsible for any fines levied by the City of Portland Fire Department, the OCC, or other entity.

Similarly, the fire code requires that:

once the room is full, the door to the seminar room must be closed.

there is no standing room allowed.

Please work with the room monitor to insure that once the room is full, attendance is cut off.

We appreciate the help of everyone attending the workshop with these City of Portland rules, to help make the workshop go smoothly.

I was fortunate to attend two excellent regional workshops this year--Region 6 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Region 5 in Rochester, Minnesota. Both offered great sessions, keynotes, offsites (I chose the Oklahoma Aquarium in Region 6 and a canoe trip through a heron rookery in Region 5), and opportunities to network.

As a representative of the national staff at the regional workshops, I particularly enjoy getting to actually participate (rather than being behind the scenes, as I am at NAI's national and international events). There are so many smart and talented presenters at every NAI event, and it's invigorating to soak up the energy and passion of professionals and students in the field.

I've made a lot of great friends and participated in some really meaningful experiences attending regional workshops, and I look forward to more in years to come.
